This is the most common situation and the cheapest to fix. People opened ChatGPT, got something weirdly formal back, and decided the whole area was overhyped. A workshop puts the tools in front of them properly, and by the end of the session everyone has built something that works on their own machine.
It is also the fastest way to find out what is worth automating later, because the room tells you which tasks hurt.

When the question comes from above, the risk is buying five tools to look busy. Thread looks at what the organisation does day to day, where the hours go, and which of it a machine should be doing, then hands back a ranked plan with timelines and a price. Look at the government program first
The South Australian Government's AI Capability Pilot Program, delivered by simplefy.ai, gives businesses under 20 full time staff nine hours of support for $150 total. That is a four hour build day at $50 per participant and five hours of one-on-one coaching at $100 per participant, plus six months of community access. Applications are open.
No private provider can meet that price, including us. Take the subsidised hours first. If you finish them and want to go further than the pilot covers, that is the right moment to call us.

Should we do training or automation first?
Training first, in most cases. A workshop costs less than a build and it tells you which tasks are worth automating, because the people doing the work name them out loud in the room. Going straight to a build works when you can already name the task without thinking about it.
Do we need a strategy engagement before anything else?
Only if the decision has to be defended to someone. A five person agency does not need a ranked plan to work out that quoting takes too long. An organisation with 200 staff, a dozen half-used subscriptions and a board asking questions does.
Can we combine them?
Yes, and most organisations end up doing two of the three. The common pairing is a workshop for the team plus a build for the one process nobody has time to fix. We scope them together so the workshop covers the tools the build uses.
Is there subsidised AI support for South Australian businesses?
Yes. The AI Capability Pilot Program is funded by the South Australian Government's Office for Small and Family Business and delivered by simplefy.ai. Businesses with fewer than 20 full time staff get nine hours for $150 total, made up of a $50 four hour build day and $100 for five hours of coaching, with six months of community access afterwards. Applications are open and it runs across 2026 and 2027.
Will any of this mean we need fewer people?
That is not what we build. The workflows give a team back the hours they lose to research, admin and follow up, so those hours go into the work only a person can do. Every engagement assumes the same people are still there afterwards.
